Peter Bergin, Ragtime Pianist
Peter Bergin’s ragtime piano is a celebration of life through music and stories, sure to make you smile as you tap to its happy rhythms. Not a sad sound to be found! Great American Songbook and Patriotic sing-a-longs can be combined with the ragtime to add variety. All programs emphasize entertainment and education, as Peter speaks to the history and background between the musical numbers. Peter’s debut CD, Ragtime In Time, features several styles of ragtime and highlights nine ragtime composers. Peter’s crossover project, Gottschalk to Gershwin, explores the intersection of ragtime and American classical music, featuring the music of Louis Moreau Gottschalk, George Gershwin, Scott Joplin, Eubie Blake, among others. Peter is widely sought-after for fund-raisers, festivals, school assemblies, libraries, museums, and community concert venues. Playing in the heart of community brings Peter immense joy and satisfaction. He looks forward to bringing ragtime to audiences everywhere as a testament to America’s original music.
